Baseline- Girls focused Community Development Project

,

Introduction of Project

The Girls Focused Community Development Project (GCDP) is a five-year initiative from 19 May 2025 to 18 May 2030, which builds on the earlier Dhanusha Community Development Project (DCDP). The project employs an integrated, four-pillar strategic approach focusing on: education and skills (LEARN), early childhood development and protection (THRIVE), youth leadership (LEAD), and youth engagement in decision-making (DECIDE). GCDP mainly targets vulnerable children, adolescents, and youth, with a special focus on girls and young women in Dhanusha District, Madhesh Province.

Using a cluster approach, GCDP will be implemented in five local governments: Bideha Municipality, Janaknandani Rural Municipality, Kamala Municipality, Shahid Nagar Municipality, and Sabaila Municipality. Through its interventions, the project seeks to improve inclusive quality education, strengthen child protection, and promote youth empowerment.

Project Target Group

The primary beneficiaries are vulnerable children, adolescents, and youth, especially girls and young women in Dhanusha District. Secondary stakeholders include parents/caregivers, teachers, community leaders, local government representatives, and CB CPM/Child Rights Committees (CRCs).
