NMICS-2024

,

Background

The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) is one of the major outputs of the UNICEF Country program. Developed and supported by UNICEF internationally, MICS is designed to gather estimates of key indicators crucial for assessing the well-being of children and women. Over the past thirty years, MICS has continually evolved to meet changing data demands, expanding from 28 indicators in its initial round to now encompassing more than 250 indicators in its seventh round. It has emerged as a pivotal source of data on child protection, early childhood education, and a substantial contributor to child health and nutrition data. Besides serving as a means for collecting data to monitor progress towards national objectives and global commitments aimed at promoting child welfare, MICS also provides invaluable data for monitoring and reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

NMICS (Nepal Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey) was conducted in 2010 A.D., 2014 A.D., and 2019 A.D. In close collaboration with UNICEF and the leadership of the National Statistical Office (NSO), NMICS round 7 is being conducted in 2024 A.D. The survey will include ~12960 households within the country, and the primary sampling unit is 540 clusters across all seven provinces of Nepal.

PHRD Nepal will be implemented in this survey.
