Nutrition- Emergency Response

,

Background:

Heavy rainfall and flooding have resulted in significant loss of lives, displacement of households, damage to infrastructure, disruption of health and nutrition services, and increased vulnerability among children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and other nutritionally at-risk groups in several districts of Nepal, particularly in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Tanahun.

The disaster has adversely affected food security, access to health and nutrition services, water and sanitation facilities, and infant and young child feeding practices. Children under five years of age, pregnant and breastfeeding women (PBW) and adolescents are at heightened risk of acute malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, and disease outbreaks.
