Evaluation of Improving the Health Care System of Bogatan, Doti (IHSP)

,

Background: UMN has been implementing the Improving Health Care System of Bogatan, Doti Project (IHSP) in the Bogatan Phudsil Rural Municipality of Doti district. This initiative is conducted in partnership with the Centre for Equal Access for Development (CEAD Nepal) and is funded by the Gossner Mission. The IHSP is implemented in one to seven wards of Bogatan Phudsil RM. The IHSP is a three-year project that was initiated in January 2023 and will end in December 2025.

The project is designed to strengthen the local government’s healthcare system and enhance the skills of health workers, which could help them deliver improved services to women of reproductive age and young people. This is achieved by engaging community groups, mothers’ groups, families, and key stakeholders such as government health providers and female community health volunteers. The range of services addressed through the project includes maternal and child health, family planning, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and mental health. Additionally, the initiative focuses on improving overall health governance.

The goal of the IHSP is to improve access to health services among the community people of Bogatan Phudsil RM.

Purpose of evaluation

The endline evaluation assesses the project’s effectiveness, impact, sustainability, lessons learned, and achievement of intended outcomes, providing insights and recommendations to guide UMN’s future similar projects.
