About the Project:
The Promotion of Child Mental Health (PCMH) and Psychosocial Wellbeing in Community Program, funded by CBM Global, CMC-Nepal works with teachers and parents to create a safe environment for children’s psychosocial well-being. It also trains teachers to assess and support children’s emotional and behavioral issues and builds the capacity of health workers to provide mental health services to children and adolescents.
As mentioned in ToR, the evaluation of CMC-Nepal’s CMHP (2005-2012) revealed that 14.78% of children and adolescents have emotional and behavioral issues requiring psychological intervention. A recent Nepal Health Research Council study found mental health problems in 5.2% of children aged 13-17, including depression (0.6%), suicidal thoughts (3.9%), and substance abuse (0.6%). Another study showed an 18.3% prevalence of child mental health issues. To address this, CMC-Nepal and CBM-Global launched a project in Madhesh Province in 2021, focusing on psychosocial wellbeing, especially for children with disabilities, ending in December 2024.
The main purpose of the evaluation is to assess the the efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability of the project and also determine the relevance and fulfilment of objectives, and accumulate information that is credible and useful, enabling to provide lessons and recommendation as to any improvements will be included in development of the project in future.
